PAST HAUNTS

2024

A BRIGHTER TOMORROW

Blast off into the promise of a brighter tomorrow aboard the AgriVerse Solutions spaceship. Bound for Andromeda, this state-of-the-art craft contains all the necessary infrastructure to maintain the health & safety of its newly contracted employees—including the hydroponic agriculture system. Now, we haaaave heard isolated reports of plants mutating once the ship enters hyperspace. But geomagnetic radioactive lightning can’t strike twice, can it?

Our Spooky Story Slam finale was a collaboration with local literary arts nonprofit, Fishtrap, and a celebration of horror literature from the classics to camp. The night started with rolling performances of “Hydroponia,” a piece of promenade theater that drew upon the most spine-tingling stories from Shakespeare to Shelly. Roving groups of visitors were led through the Haunt Camp set, where actors from MidValley Theatre Company brought the sci-fi script to life. Later, visitors reanimated their inner thespian during the open mic ’Slam contest, with dramatic (& hilarious) readings including Goosebumps, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, & original horror pieces. In true Haunt Camp fashion, teens ruled the night, acting as our panel of judges.

Another highlight from the 2024 season was Intergalactic Art Day, an all-ages, family-friendly event. Parents & children designed extraterrestrial adversaries and painted space-age murals of gadgets, gizmos, & gauges.

Cruise the Bermuda Triangle

2023

All aboard the USS Tourist Trap, the ocean liner headed for the tropical climes of the Bermuda Triangle!  Relax in the lap of luxury in our First Class Cabins. Your mouth will water at the sight of our buffet, featuring Lobster Paste prepared six ways to Sunday. Enjoy the pinnacle of Broadwave entertainment with the Salty Siren Revue. Remember your voyage through all eternity with a souvenir from Amelia in the Earhart’s Remains gift shop. We only hope the vessel can withstand the freak time-warping tempests of the Caribbean, since in the depths of Davy Jones’s locker: here there be monsters.

The 2023 production brought more complexity to our haunted house set, with added extras, dead-end mazes, & a surreal show-within-a-show seated performance of trained, singing mermaids. Disoriented visitors were fitted with a life jacket—safety first!—before working their way through the bowels of the ship.

This year we were proud to offer our first community event featuring visiting guest artists! Laura Glazer of Portland and Sean Francis Conway of San Diego traveled all the way to Wallowa County Oregon to host How to Haunt Your Town, a collaborative ideas-generating, zine-making, pizza-fueled, all-ages party.

The Cheesecake Laboratory

2022

Lured by the promise of a cheesecake eating contest, unsuspecting visitors wait for their reservation at The Cheesecake Laboratory, Wallowa County Oregon’s most baffling pop-up restaurant. Once inside, the staff have a different agenda: putting you to work. Glow-in-the-dark cheesecake trays in hand, visitors are rushed through the mind-bending back of house: from the kitchen to the bathroom, ducking through a hole behind the toilet which reveals a twisting cave leading to the titular laboratory. Deep in this cavern a monstrous new horror awaits: the Mother Cheese, and the twisting realization that what’s on the menu is YOU. A desperate escape through the glowing oven to is your only chance to live to dine another day.

2022 was a dream come true: Haunt Camp’s first full-scale production! True to its vision, The Cheesecake Laboratory involved community members of all stripes. Dozens of costumed extras populated our iconic Greco-Egyptian dining room, jeering, roasting & toasting visitors.

Puzzling exits, portable props, and Pepper’s Ghost illusions have all become hallmarks of Haunt Camp’s productions.

cREATURE CREATION WORKSHOP

Haunt Camp’s pilot year offered a stimulating new art program for rural Wallowa County Oregon’s teens: learning movie magic makeup.
